The RX-78-2 Gundam HG (High Grade 1/144 scale) is the kit that started it all — the original Gundam, the grandfather of all model kits, now produced with modern engineering and detail standards. This High Grade kit assembles without glue using Bandai’s precision snap-fit system, with color separation built directly into the molded parts, minimizing the need for paint. The finished model stands approximately 12.5cm tall and features impressive articulation at the shoulders, elbows, knees, and ankles, allowing for dynamic pose recreation. The iconic tri-color design of white, red, and yellow is captured through pre-colored parts, with a foil sticker sheet for visor and sensor details. Beam rifle, shield, beam saber, and bazooka accessories are all included. Runner layout is clearly labeled and the instruction manual uses universal diagram notation requiring no Japanese reading ability. An ideal first Gunpla kit for beginners due to its manageable part count and straightforward assembly, while remaining deeply satisfying for veterans returning to the original.
